FAQ

What is Powered Paragliding?

Basically, it is paragliding with a motor and propellor on the back of the pilot. Paragliding requires lift from the wind pushing up hill faces or thermals that rise from the ground. Take off is normally in mountainous areas or from coastal cliffs. By adding a backpack motor ( 2-stroke ) Powered Paragliders, also called Paramotors or PPG can take off from flat land. They utilise the thrust of the propellor to push forward.

Is flying a paramotor safe?

Yes. Paramotoring is in fact safer than many air sports like skydiving or hang gliding. This is because Paramotor Pilots who have received proper training and fly with good Equipment, only tend to fly when the wind is low at the beginning and end of the day when there are less risk of wing deflation from unstable air, strong thermals or turbulent conditions.

Is there at age limit to fly paramotor?

No. There is no age limit to fly. However, for tandem paramotor passengers, flying with Action Life, you must be 18 years old. There is no maximum age.

Is it a physical activity to fly a paramotor?

Yes. The take off is the most dynamic part of the experience and does require a small degree of physical effort. Also, weight has an effect on flight performance related to the ability of the motor and equipment used to take off and land safely. The current passenger weight limit is up to 195 pounds. There are no height limits. You must be able to run a short distance for take off and landings.

How long are the tandem flights?

Your flight is approximately 30 minutes in duration. Longer or shorter flights can be negotiated on the day and if available for schedule. Flights will take off and land from the same location.

What happens if the motor stops in flight?

We fly with a large tandem paraglider and in the event that the motor stops we simply glide down and land. During flight operations, the pilot flies a safe altitude to allow easy landings and is constantly scanning the ground for safe landing spots should the motor stop. In fact, the motor is often turned off before landing for added safety.

What clothes should I wear?

We will provide you with a helmet. It is best to dress for the temperature and the season. Long pants are recommended and enclosed footwear must be worn at all times.

What if it rains?

Flying the paramotor is a weather dependant activity and may be cancelled if the weather changes to conditions unstable to fly (windy and/or rainy). We monitor the weather days, hours, minutes ahead of your scheduled flight and will make the decision to fly only if it is completely acceptable and safe to fly. If we are unable to fly on the day scheduled to fly we will attempt to rescheudle your flight for a day that works best.
